Stephen
W. Hanscom

With
the firm since 1974, Stephen W. Hanscom comes from a long line
of attorneys. Born
in Sanford, Maine, on July 18, 1949, he attended Sanford High
School and received his B.A. from Bowdoin College, Magna Cum
Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in 1971. He received his J.D. from
Boston University in 1974 and was admitted to both the Maine
and Massachusetts Bars that same year. He joined Collins & Crandall
in 1974. He is a member of the Knox County, Maine State,
Massachusetts, and American Bar Associations and the Maine Trial
Lawyers Association and a Bar Fellow. He has been Justice
of the Peace for Knox County for the past 10 years. He has served
on the Board of Directors for the William A. Farnsworth Library
and Art Museum, the Coastal Mountain Land Trust, Camden Yacht
Club, and Camden Teen Center. He was the incorporator for Penobscot
Bay Medical Center and Commodore of the Rockport Boat Club. He
continues to serve on many boards and in other capacities at
the First Congregational Church in Camden and just recently completed
a two and one-half year term as its President. He is currently
a member of the Fee Arbitration Commission of the Board of Overseers
of the Bar. Stephen and his wife, Loie, live in Camden and have
three children. His primary
areas of focus are real
estate law, business
law and estate
planning and administration, particularly trusts and
wills. He is also
very active in family
law, probate,
and civil litigation,
having recently won two appeals to the Maine Supreme Court.
He has incorporated numerous S-corporations, non-profit corporations and
Limited Liability Companies, and established both Maine General
and Limited Partnerships
